Diadems in Revelation

<p>In this paper, I explore the careful distinction between the diadem (<i>diadema</i>) and the crown (<i>stephanos</i>) in the ancient world. Applying this to Revelation, we see that John uses the common distinction between diadem and crown to denounce the illegitimate &#8220;royalty&#8221; of the Roman Empire and to declare the true royalty of Christ.</p>
