Skype Names in Apple Address Book

If you’ve tried entering someone’s Skype name into their address book as an IM handle, you have encountered frustration because there are no custom IM labels in Address Book. A solution (although it doesn’t propogate to the Skype buddy list) is to use the telephone fields. Skype is for phone calls anyway so this makes sense. Just create a custom label called Skype and enter the person’s Skype name in the field. Phone number fields aren’t limited to numbers so Address Book doesn’t complain.
