The difference is you choose your music based on &lt;i&gt;genres&lt;/i&gt; and &lt;i&gt;moods&lt;/i&gt;; you can mix 'n' match. It'll give you a more consistent sounding listening experience when you're in the mood.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The iPod idea is a really good one!  I'm also an iPhone guy, so I won't be able to put that into practical use, but you can bet it's going to get tucked away for future use!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I've used Pandora before, and I think it's great.  The problem is that I'm sorta looking to branch out musically - in other words, try out entirely new genres or sub-genres that I've not been exposed to.  My best friend so far has been last.fm, since it allows for ad-hoc "treeing" of bands (Foo is like Bar is like Baz, etc. - even though Foo and Baz are often &lt;em&gt;completely&lt;/em&gt; different).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I might just do some iTunes bingo and see what I come up with.  Thanks again for the post, buddy!&lt;/p&gt;
